Our mission…
The Northern Illinois Pottery Tour was founded on the idea of community. Artists, their families, friends, and neighbors are invited to connect directly with the makers — to see their work, hear their stories, and understand the connection between objects and the hands that shape them. The tour expands appreciation for the handmade and strengthens the relationship between those who create pots and those who use and love them.
We also hope to inspire the next generation of potters by opening doors to studios and showing that a meaningful life in clay is both possible and deeply rewarding.
The tour has already started to bring people together — with open studios, demonstrations, and opportunities to meet regional potters in person. By becoming a non-profit, we’ll be able to expand programming, apply for grants, and make the tour a lasting annual event that uplifts artists and connects our community through clay.
